This is a great opportunity for a Senior Software Developer with a well-establish research institute in London who are world leaders in identifying cancer genes and discovering cancer drugs. This role will sit within the Cancer Therapeutics Unit (CTU) which is dedicated to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for treatment and it will work in the Computational Biology and Chemogenomics team. This team develop and apply state of the art computational approaches and data analyses to inform and support drug discovery. They form a critical part of the CTU projects across all drug discovery phases and they inform experimental design, drive data analysis pipeline and use bespoke tools and methodologies.
  
  
This role focuses on the development and provision of broad bioinformatics analysis to support drug discovery and will involve both applying bioinformatics and the development of pipelines to support these.
  
Some of your duties will include:
  • Evaluate and apply broad bioinformatics analysis expertise to support drug discovery in the CTU
  • Contribute to drug discovery projects by analysing genomic and transcriptomic data
  • Evaluate and tailor such approaches and create bioinformatics pipelines for specific drug discovery projects requirements
  • Deploy bioinformatics pipelines using scripting languages such as Perl/Python and statistical packages such as R
  • Perform downstream analyses required to help the biological interpretation of complex data with view to aid decision making in drug discovery projects
  • Design and implement database driven multi-omics data integration
  
  
The company is looking for someone with the main skills/qualifications:
  • A minimum of MSc in cancer biology, genetics, computer science or associate subject
  • Proven experience of working in a bioinformatics role (academia or industry)
  • Proven experience in analysing large scale genomics and transcriptomics data
  • Proven experience in developing and deploying large scale NGS analysis pipelines
  • Proven experience in interpretation of large-scale data
  • Proven experience in cancer informatics
  • Established skills in the application of broad bioinformatics analysis tools and databases including gene and protein sequence analysis and annotation tools
